Split Shoulder Reel : Windmill

Intermediate

Summary

This is the linking movement of Shoulder Reel Turn and Carry Turn by doing Split-Time. It looks as windmill when the hand position is at high point and so it's called "Windmill".

How to

  1. Carry Turn from forward spin to backward spin.
  2. Back to the preivious position by Shoulder Reel Turn.
  3. The poi movement stays the same and only the body turns diagonally for about 90 to the sides.
  4. Look to the front and spin the poi as close as possible to your shoulders. The left poi spins in front and behind your left shoulder. The right poi spins in front and behind your right shoulder.
  5. Spin less between turns as you get familiar with the moves.
  6. This movement is in shape when you only spin the poi once between the turns.
  7. It turns out to be the Windmill movement by placing your hands above your head.
  8. Try to spin the poi alternatively in the rhythm of Split-Time so the poi looks as a straight stick.
  9. Practice to do on the other side as well.

Tips

When poi comes in front, you can spin poi in extended circle. It is called giant windmill.
