Hip Reel / Low Reel

Summary

The movement which the poi spins in a circle for once both at in front and behind your hips is called Hip Reel.

How to

  1. Turn to the side by doing Hip Reel Turn from forward spin to backward spin.
  2. Then turn back to to the previous direction by doing Carry Turn.
  3. The movement of the poi stays in the same orbit and try to turn by just by turning your body 90° to the sides.
  4. Your face is facing to the front and try to spin as close as possible to your hips.
  5. Once you're familiar with this movement, try to spin less between the turns.
  6. When there is no unnecessary spins between the turns, the poi spins in a circle for once both at in front and behind your body, you've master this movement.

Tips

When the poi passes in front of your body, you can spin it in a big circle and this is called Giant Hip Reel.
