Summary

So far, the both poi, right and left, are turning at the same time in the same rhythm so it's called "Same-Time" or "Together-Time".

When the timing splits and as each poi gets 180 degrees apart, the rhythm of the poi is called "Split-Time". When you can spin them at the right rhythm, they'll look as if they are a single stick from the side.

How to

Forward Swing Split Time

The poi comes down one after another just like the feet when you're running. The rhythm goes 1, 2, 1, 2 when each poi comes and hits the bottom point.
Follow this rhythm while spinning. It might be easier to follow the rhythm with your whole body, not only with your arms.
Try to spin them pararell to each other while keeping the rhythm.

Backward Swing Split Time

Scooping up the poi and spin it so the orbit stabilizes.
Spin the poi alternatively while following the rhythm.
Be aware of the rhythm while spinning them pararell to each other.

Tips

After you get used to the movement, try it at different speed and points.
