Basic Swing of poi. Imagine that you have parallel planes on the side.

Hold the poi without the tension in your shoulders.

How to

Forward Swing

Swing the poi from above the head and naturally to the bottom.
Try to spin them pararell to each other.


Scoop up the poi from the bottom.
Have an image to spin them pararell to each other as you practice.


If there's a mirror near you, have a look in the mirror to check if the poi is turning straight or not.
If you are practicing outside, stand with your back to the sun so you can see your shadow and check the movement of the poi.

As you get used to spin the poi, try to change the speed of it from slow to fast, as well as changing the spinning point from the bottom to the top.

Practice to spin them at various speed and points!
